My life has always been deeply intertwined with sound.
From a young age, I was captivated by audio - hooking up tape machines, recording classmates on the playground and composing for school concerts.
After studying at the Glasgow School of Art, I continued with classes in London in production, mixing, mastering and orchestration, and immersed myself into writing songs, playing in bands and finding audio work opportunities at the places like the BBC, Somthin’ Else and Hans Zimmer's Remote Control.
In 2011 I moved to New York City where I continued work as composer and songwriter on projects for publishing houses, filmmakers, agencies, exhibitions, and non-profit organizations, and soon became active in the city's public radio and emerging podcast scene.
Following time working at a number of studios, I started a show called Kismet that captured real stories of how people met, and founded Cocoon Audio, a production house dedicated to crafting audio experiences with story, sound and music. Throughout the past decade, my work with Cocoon has been central to the strategy, production, development and launch of podcasts, audio adventures and sonic projects for clients such as Wondery, iHeart, Sony, Pushkin, Topic, Audible, Slate and many many more. These collaborations have won a number of awards including Third Coast Best Serialized Series, IDA best series, and finalist nods for the Pulitzer Prize and Audies.
Audio is both my profession and my playground, and I try to find time to play piano and compose under the moniker Nix Nought Nothing . When not lost in sound, I swim and cycle with my daughter, help local tree-planting initiatives, and explore New York's food.
